The departure of Drew Gulak from WWE following allegations made by Ronda Rousey has stirred significant debate within the wrestling community. Rousey accused Gulak of inappropriate behavior, specifically alleging that he grabbed the string of her sweatpants without her consent. Gulak’s release from WWE this week prompted clarification from Triple H regarding the circumstances of his exit.

During an interview on NewsNation, Ronda Rousey explicitly implicated Drew Gulak, recounting the incident where she confronted him for his actions. She described the encounter.

“Drew Gulak. Drew Gulak, that’s who it was. I confronted him later and I was like, ‘If I ever hear about you putting your hands on any other woman like this or doing anything like this to me ever again, we’re going to have a problem.’ He was like, ‘No, no, no. I’m glad you said something to me.’ He really backpedaled, but it put a sour taste in my mouth about the culture there and what’s considered acceptable on how to touch and treat the women in the hallways, and anywhere.”

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that the accusations played a significant role in his departure, Triple H addressed the issue during a post-WWE Backlash press conference. He drew a parallel between talent releases in WWE and player releases in the NFL, emphasizing that releasing talent is a regular occurrence in both industries.

“First of all, if you are going to cite news sources, I would say pick good ones. Credible, maybe,” Triple H remarked. “We release talent all the time. The NFL releases 400 to 500 players a year. We release talent all the time. It is part of what we do. We cannot hire people and keep bringing them in.”

However, Triple H clarified that Drew Gulak’s case was different, explaining that Gulak was not released but rather his contract was not renewed by the company.

“An unfortunate part of the job is talent gets released,” he continued. “Can I say that he [Drew Gulak] was released? He was not released. His contract was just not renewed. We’re good?”

As Drew Gulak navigates his future outside WWE, speculation abounds regarding potential opportunities in other wrestling promotions such as AEW or TNA Wrestling.
