Vince McMahon is currently dealing with a sexual trafficking lawsuit, but other people were also involved and now it appears the COO of WWE has resigned amidst his involvement in the lawsuit.
On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE staff member, filed lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon, alleging incidents of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking dating back to March 2019. The lawsuit contains grave accusations against these high-profile individuals, shedding light on significant misconduct within the company and calling into question the safety and integrity of the workplace environment at WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Chief Operating Officer Brad Blum tendered his resignation from WWE. Details surrounding his departure are limited, but it was stated as his own decision, with no indication of external pressure.
”Chief Operating Officer Brad Blum tendered his resignation on 5/1. We don’t know more details past this was his own decision and nobody forced him out.”
Blum, alongside Nick Khan and Paul Levesque, held a lot of power within the company. He served as a critical strategic and operational leader since joining WWE in 2006, initially as Chief of Staff. Over the years, he assumed various leadership roles, ultimately overseeing a range of corporate functions, including Corporate Strategy, Marketing, IT & Technology, and more. Blum transitioned to Executive Vice President of Operations in 2019, and following the merger with Endeavor, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.
Blum’s tenure was not without controversy, as he was involved in legal matters such as the Janel Grant lawsuit. He was cited in the lawsuit regarding his handling of hiring and internal transfers. We’ll have to see what will become of Blum next.
