After months of absence from AEW TV, Kenny Omega made his long-awaited return on the 5/1 episode of AEW Dynamite. While Omega came out to address the fans, he was confronted by Konosuke Takeshita and a match between both men was teased. However, Omega did state that he needed a couple of months before that match.
A few moments later, The Elite attacked the returning star, just like they attacked Tony Khan last week, sending a message to every top star on the roster. While Omega was still recovering from his health issues, the attack could have had a huge toll on his head.
Dave Meltzer, during a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, addressed Kenny Omega’s in-ring status and how the timeline looks for his return. Meltzer revealed that Omega was yet to have his surgery and a few months will be needed after that for him to get back into the ring.
“It’s going to be a long time, I mean he still hasn’t had the surgery and after the surgery it’s going to take months for him to return. I know people who saw Omega and Okada and got really excited, ‘Oh my god, are they going to be wrestling at Forbidden Door?’”
“Obviously the plan is for them to wrestle but I don’t think there is a date imminent and it’s not anytime soon but it probably will happen, by the end of the year maybe.
“Obviously Kenny Omega wants it to happen. They did not do this not to do a big feud with Omega and other people against The Young Bucks, Okada and an Okada, Omega singles match and perhaps other big Omega matches as well.”
If his surgery is still pending, it doesn’t seem like Kenny Omega would be back in the squared circle anytime in the next 3-4 months. Ringside News will keep you updated with this story.
