The wrestling industry has had some of the most intriguing and compassionate storylines that one could ever expect. There have been numerous instances where a storyline has turned into a massive attraction, eventually featuring the stars as real-life rivals. From Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin, to The Undertaker and Triple H, the rich history of WWE has featured some intense feuds.
However, none of them can match the one Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper had. Both stars couldn’t stand each other throughout their careers and have been a part of some of the most exciting matches of all-time.
However, during an interview with the 700 Club, Hulk Hogan narrated an interesting story about Roddy Piper’s death. The Hall of Famer revealed that both men started chatting with each other right before Piper’s death. Hogan also stated that two days after Piper’s death, he received a voice message from the late star.
“In the wrestling business for 25 years we couldn’t stand each other, we were at each other’s throats. I know it is predetermined and all that but he did not like me and I did not like him. That’s just how it was. Once we got older and we had some conversations we started talking. He started asking about my spirituality, he didn’t connect but he was very curious. He wouldn’t surrender. All of a sudden he passes away.”
“There was an A&E special about Roddy Piper. When they go to credits, there is a message. It was not a text message, it was a voice message. But this text message came in two days after he died and the message goes ‘I’m just loving you, my brother. Just walkin’ with Jesus. Walkin’ with Jesus and loving you, my brother,’ I was like, ‘He would have never said that when he was here. It is amazing how things work.”
Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper might not have been able to stand together without any grudges in the ring, both men clearly had tremendous amounts of respect for each other. Ringside News will keep you updated with this story.
