It’s Saturday night and you know what that means! AEW Collision will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the April 27, 2024 episode.

AEW Collision Results (4/27/2024):

The show opens up with a video recapping Swerve Strickland’s win over Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty to become the new AEW World Champion. Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness then welcomes us to the show and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland makes his way down to the ring alongside Prince Nana.

Prince Nana starts off by saying the man standing in front of you today is the boss of bosses. Nana then says Swerve is the anointed one in professional wrestling. Nana then says Swerve is one hell of a wrestler. The crowd then starts a “Thank you, Swerve” chant.

Swerve Strickland then says it’s been quite the week in All Elite Wrestling. Strickland then runs down all of the things that have gone down in the company over the past week. Strickland then says what The Elite did to Tony Khan was a b***h move. Strickland then says the most important thing that happened this week was him becoming AEW World Champion. Strickland then says the night he won the championship, he went to his daughter, who told him that she was proud of him, but she doesn’t know him. Strickland then says that hit him hard for all the lost time he has had with his family, but hopes he can blaze a trail as champion to make all the time away worth it.

Strickland then says he wants to do an open challenge and defend his AEW World Championship tonight. Claudio Castagnoli’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. The two men then face off and Castagnoli says he’s on. Swerve then says he will see Claudio in who’s house. Claudio then tells Swerve that the title will be his. It was then announced that Tony Khan has made the match official.

We then get a video package of The Elite attacking Tony Khan on Dynamite. Tony Schiavone then gives us an update on Tony Khan and says Khan has suffered head and neck injuries. Schiavone then says Khan was able to work and run the show tonight, but doctors have not cleared him to travel. Schiavone then says Khan will work on AEW business remotely from Jacksonville until he is cleared, leading McGuinness to wonder if the Young Bucks could end up with decision-making power if things come up during the shows. Schiavone then scoffed at the notion of that becoming a reality.

We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is the Unified World Trios Championship Match.

Unified World Trios Championship Match: Bullet Club Gold (“Switchblade” Jay White, Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn) (c) vs. Top Flight (Dante Martin and Darius Martin) and Action Andretti

The match starts off with Dante Martin and Jay White. White takes Dante down. Dante then hits White with some big chops in the corner. White then tries to fight Dante off, but Dante continues to chop White. White then responds with chops of his own. Colten Gunn is then tagged in and Austin Gunn is tagged in next, taking Dante down with a big knee lift. Austin then tags White in and hits Dante in the mid-section and then chops him. Colten is then tagged in and suplexes Dante and covers him for just a two count. Dante then rolls to the floor and comes back in, then takes White out on the floor. Darius is then tagged in and takes Austin out as Action Andretti comes in and jumps over the top rope to take Colten and White out on the floor.

The Gunns then prevent the tag and take both Action and Dante out. White then chops Darius, who fights back, but White hits him with a big chop. The Gunns are now in, but Darius tags Action Andretti in and he takes The Gunns and White down using the ropes as a spring board. Action then kicks Colten and takes Austin down with a Spanish Fly and covers him for only a two count. White and The Gunns are on the floor as Dante jumps over the ropes and takes The Gunns and White out. Colten then pulls Dante to the floor. Colten then distracts the referee as Action is up on the top turnbuckle. The Gunns then causes Action to fall. White then takes Dante out and drops Darius. Action then hits White with a pump kick, a thrust kick and a drop kick. White then hits Action with a bladerunner for the win.

We then get a recap of the ladder match at Dynasty, where Jack Perry interfered to help the Young Bucks win. Schiavone then says that FTR is out tonight as they are recovering from the injuries they sustained during the ladder match.

We then get a video package from the House of Black, saying that their match against Adam Copeland’s team went exactly as they wanted it to. The House of Black then accepts Copeland’s Cope Open for next week in Winnipeg, telling him that he would find out who he will be wrestling as soon as the bell rings.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Rey Fenix vs. “The Beast” Mortos

The match starts off with Mortos hitting Fenix with chops and Fenix trying to fight back. Mortos then sends Fenix to the mat. Fenix then jumps off the ropes and goes for a cross body, but Mortos catches him and hits him with a powerslam. Fenix then rolls to the floor. Mortos then runs and takes Fenix down. Fenix then kicks Mortos, but Mortos sends Fenix face first to the mat. Mortos then hits Fenix with a lariat, but only gets a two count. Mortos then grabs the leg of Fenix and puts him in a submission hold. Fenix then rolls over to the ropes to break the hold and then rolls to the floor. Mortos then goes to the outside and slaps Fenix in the face. Mortos then grabs the mask of Fenix and returns to the ring to break the count. Mortos then goes back to the floor and sends Fenix into the ring post. Mortos then rolls Fenix into the ring and covers hims for only a two count. Mortos then attempts to rip the mask of Fenix off. Fenix then tries to fight back, but Mortos comes back with a kick and then grabs the leg of Fenix and wraps it around the bottom rope.

Mortos then nails Fenix with a headbutt. Fenix then tries to fight back and he kicks Mortos and goes for the cover, but only gets a one count. Fenix then kicks Mortos in the jaw and goes for the cover, but only gets a two count. Fenix then jumps and walks on the head of Mortos. Fenix then jumps again, but Mortos catches him and hits Fenix with a headbutt in the mid-section. Both men are down as the referee begins the ten count. Fenix then sends Mortos to the floor. Fenix is up and jumps off the top turnbuckle landing on Mortos on the floor. Rey then rolls Mortos back in the ring. Fenix then jumps off the ropes and Mortos catches him and slams Fenix hard to the mat. Fenix then recovers and hits the ropes, but Mortos catches him and slams Fenix hard to the mat. Mortos covers Fenix, but Fenix kicks out at two. Mortos then charges at Fenix, but Fenix hits Mortos with several thrust kicks. Fenix then walks the ropes and kicks Mortos in the back of the head, then follows it up with another thrust kick. Fenix then goes to the top and hits Mortos with a frog splash, but only gets a two count. Mortos then grabs Fenix, but Fenix rolls Mortos up and gets the win.

We then get a video package featuring Trent Beretta’s turn on Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor’s Parking Lot Fight challenge. We then cut to Orange Cassidy backstage with an interviewer, telling her that he was worried about what they were going to do to each other. Kris Statlander then enters and tells Cassidy they needed to be there, so Cassidy left for the parking lot.

RUSH then makes his way down to the ring for the next match and Martin Stone is already waiting in the ring.

Singles Match: “El Toro Blanco” RUSH vs. Martin Stone

The match starts off with RUSH hitting Stone with a running knee. RUSH then sends Stone into the barricade. RUSH then hits Stone with some big knees to his face. RUSH then grabs a chair and tosses it into the ring. RUSH then grabs a tv cable from under the ring and hits Stone with it, then sends Stone back in the ring. RUSH then chops Stone and hits him with a running elbow shot. RUSH then nails Stone with a right hand. RUSH then follows it up with a running drop kick and gets the win.

After the match, RUSH hits Stone with another forearm before nailing him with the Bull’s Horns again.

We then get a recap of Anna Jay’s post-match attack on Mariah May from Dynamite, leading to Toni Storm making the save and Serena Deeb making a challenge. We then cut to Deeb backstage, where she says that she was the obvious #1 contender to the title having been undefeated in 2024. Deeb then says it is time to prove how good everyone thinks she is and win the AEW Women’s World Championship.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Anna Jay

The match starts off with both women locking up. The hold is broken, then both women lock up again. Storm then puts Anna in a headlock. Anna then breaks out of the hold and puts Storm in a headlock of her own and takes Storm down. Storm then breaks the hold. Storm then kicks Anna in the mid-section. Anna then hits Storm with a hip attack. Storm then sends Anna to the mat. Storm then hits Anna with a hip attack. Mariah May then mocks Anna on the apron. Storm then charges at Anna, but Anna moves out of the way and Storm hits Mariah May with a hip attack. Storm then checks on May and returns to the ring, but gets hit with a neck breaker by Anna.

Storm then hits Anna with a backstabber, then follows it up with a DDT. Storm then covers Anna, but Anna kicks out at two. Anna then nails Storm and gets a two count. Storm then slams Anna down and gets a two count. Anna then puts Storm in the queenslayer in the center of the ring, but Storm fights out of it and drops Anna back first to the mat. Storm then hits Anna with a hip attack and follows it up with a storm zero for the win.

We then see the parking lot before cutting to Chuck Taylor in the back. Orange Cassidy then comes in with a dog and hands the dog to Chuck Taylor. Taylor then tells Cassidy not to interfere in the Parking Lot Fight tonight.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Tag Team Match.

Tag Team Match: The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) vs. Grizzled Young Vets (James Drake and Zack Gibson)

The match starts off with Zack Gibson and Max Caster. Caster then puts Gibson in a headlock, but Gibson gets out of the hold and tags James Drake in. Anthony Bowens is tagged in as well and he and Drake goes at it. Gibson is then tagged in as he hits Bowens in the back. Bowens then responds with a suplex on Gibson. Bowens then tags Caster in as he and Bowens double team Gibson. Gibson then sends Bowens to the floor and then tags Drake in. Drake then uses Gibson as a launching pad to send The Acclaimed to the floor.

Drake and Gibson then double team Caster. Gibson then grabs Caster and Drake jumps over the ropes and takes out Caster. Gibson then puts Caster in a headlock, but Caster tries to fights out of it to make the tag. Drake is then tagged in and he cuts off Caster and the Grizzled Young Vets double team Caster. Caster then makes the tag to Bowens. Bowens then takes both Gibson and Drake down and sends Gibson to the floor. The Acclaimed then double team Drake. Caster then slams Drake and Bowens hits Drake with a scissor me timber. Caster covers, but Drake kicks out at two. Drake then hits a running drop kick on Caster. Gibson and Drake then toss Caster over the ropes and Caster lands hard on the lights on the ramp area. Bowens then fights off both Drake and Gibson. Gibson then locks Bowens up and Drake hits him hard off the top rope. Drake then covers Bowens, but Bowens kicks out at two. Caster then tags in Bowens and Bowens slams Drake. Caster then hits Drake with a mic drop for the win.

We then get video footage of Katsuyori Shibata and Shane Taylor’s recent history. Shibata is then interviewed backstage and he says that he would chop down “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho on Dynamite. Shibata is then asked about Shane Taylor Promotions and Shibata says that he will fight them alone on Rampage. Daniel Garcia then enters and says that Shibata has had his respect after their battles for the Pure Championship and offers his help for tonight and Shibata accepts.

We then get the entrances of the main event, which is the AEW World Championship Match.

AEW World Championship Match: Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli

The match starts off with both men avoiding stomps on their hand. Castagnoli then hits Strickland with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Both men then fought onto the stage and Strickland hits Castagnoli with a headscissors onto the ramp, then follows it up with a clothesline into the ring. Strickland then hits Castagnoli with a crossbody and a series of neck breakers.

Both men then trade forearms on the apron before Castagnoli hangs Strickland’s neck on the ropes. Strickland then goes for a kick on the apron, but Castagnoli hits him with a gorilla press and sends him into the barricade. Castagnoli then hits Strickland with an uppercut. Strickland then sends Castagnoli to the apron and kicks him to the floor, then follows it up with the pump kick. Castagnoli then hits Strickland with another uppercut, then mocks Strickland, but Strickland responds with a facebuster. Castagnoli then hits Strickland with another uppercut, but Strickland escapes the Ricola Bomb and hits Castagnoli with a sliding forearm for a near fall.

Strickland then follows Castagnoli to the outside. Strickland then hits Castagnoli with a boot and follows it up with a Fosbury Flop off the stage. Strickland then hits Castagnoli with a 450 splash in the ring for a near fall. Castagnoli then responds with a double stomp. Both men then trade European uppercuts and strikes, then Castagnoli nails Strickland with a lariat. Strickland then hits Castagnoli with a deadlift suplex, then goes for the Swerve Stomp. Strickland then hits the Stomp, but Castagnoli kicks out. Strickland then goes for the House Call, but Castagnoli puts Strickland on the Giant Swing. Castagnoli then transitions into the Sharpshooter and the Crossface. Strickland then rolls Castagnoli up, but Castagnoli hits Strickland with the hammer-and-anvil elbows and a big lariat for a near fall.

Castagnoli then goes for the Neutralizer, but Strickland turns it into a DDT. Strickland then goes for a Swerve Stomp to a standing Castagnoli, but Castagnoli holds Strickland on his shoulders and hits him with a Swiss Death uppercut for a near fall. Castagnoli then nails Strickland with uppercuts, but Strickland reverses one into a backslide attempt. Strickland then hits Castagnoli with a German suplex and a pump kick. Strickland then hits Castagnoli with the House Call for the win.

After the match, Strickland and Castagnoli shake hands and AEW Collision comes to a close.
