WWE is drawing close to its latest Premium Live Event set to take place in Lyon, France, with WWE Backlash one week away. This will mark the first show in the lineup of PLE outside the primary market, USA till the summer of 2024.
The match card announced so far includes both World title matches. Jey Uso will be taking on Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship, while Cody Rhodes will square off against the No.1 contender who defeated LA Knight to capture the opportunity, AJ Styles for his Undisputed WWE Championship, possibly closing the show.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, other matches expected to be added to the show include a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship pitting the champion Bayley against Naomi and the woman who made a huge statement by attacking them in their match last week, Tiffany Stratton.
Apart from that, Sami Zayn could also find himself in a triple threat match against Chad Gable and Bronson Reed for the WWE Intercontinental title, the duo of Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair taking on The Kabuki Warriors for the Women’s tag titles, and The Street Profits battling A-Town Down Under for the WWE tag team titles. Finally, a banger bout between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus is expected for the show.
“Backlash on 5/4 in Lyon, France has Rhodes vs. Styles for the WWE title and Priest vs. Jey Uso for the world title as official. Other stuff teased includes Bayley vs. Naomi vs. Stratton for he WWE women’s title, Zayn against either/or both Gable and Reed, and Asuka & Sane vs. Cargill & Belair for the women’s tag titles, plus maybe McIntyre vs. Sheamus and Theory & Waller vs. Street Profits for WWE tag titles.”
