Vince McMahon made headlines back in June 2022 for all the wrong reasons after it was revealed that he secretly paid $3 million in hush-money scandal, but things are worse for him as he was hit with a sexual trafficking lawsuit. With that said, it appears McMahon has filed a motion in the lawsuit.
On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE staff member, filed lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon, alleging sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking incidents dating back to March 2019. The allegations have cast a shadow over McMahon’s reputation and prompted significant criticism and condemnation from within the professional wrestling industry.
As previously reported, Federal authorities are investigating sexual assault and sex trafficking allegations against Vince McMahon. This made fans believe he was simply done for.
Brandon Thurston noted that Vince McMahon has filed a motion to compel arbitration in the Grant v. WWE et al. case, asserting that the nondisclosure agreement he entered into with Janel Grant contains an arbitration clause. As a result, McMahon argues that the dispute should be resolved through private arbitration rather than in a public court setting.
In his defense, McMahon contends that Grant’s claims of sexual abuse and coercion are “pure fiction” designed to attract publicity. He asserts that these claims are contradicted by Grant’s own statements at the time of their relationship. McMahon maintains that he and Grant were involved in a consensual relationship, and he never coerced or mistreated her in any way.
The motion to compel arbitration, if successful, would move the case out of public court proceedings and into a private arbitration process. This approach is often used to maintain confidentiality and expedite dispute resolution. The outcome of this motion could have significant implications for how similar cases are handled within the context of professional wrestling and other entertainment industries.
