Reports have surfaced indicating that a notable absence from the AEW roster, Paige VanZant, has departed from the company, despite still being listed on their official roster page.
VanZant’s tenure in AEW has been marked by speculation due to her lack of in-ring activity since her sole match at Double or Nothing 2022. Despite her prolonged absence from competition, VanZant’s name remains on the AEW roster page, prompting questions about her current status within the company.
During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed a listener’s inquiry regarding VanZant’s situation, confirming her departure from AEW despite the absence of an official announcement.
Meltzer clarified, stating, “No, even though she’s still on the roster she’s not with AEW anymore.” He elaborated that VanZant made the decision to step away from wrestling, asserting, “She decided she didn’t want to be a wrestler. If she wanted to be a wrestler she’d still be there.”
VanZant, a former UFC fighter, last competed in MMA in July 2020, boasting a record of 8 wins and 5 losses. Despite her brief stint in AEW, it appears that her future endeavors will not involve professional wrestling.
