The addition of Mercedes Mone to AEW has sparked a notable shift in the promotion’s landscape. As a prominent figure in the history of the Jacksonville-based organization, Mone wasted no time in becoming a huge star but she hasn’t wrestled yet and now Tony Khan has confirmed Mone’s in-ring return status after Dynasty.
At the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view, Willow Nightingale did the impossible and defeated Julia Hart to become the new TBS Champion and it was then confirmed she would defend the title against Mercedes Mone at AEW Double or Nothing.
While speaking during the post-AEW Dynasty media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Mercedes Mone’s in-ring return status. Tony Khan made it clear Mercedes Mone will only be cleared at AEW Double or Nothing.
”She’ll be cleared at Double or Nothing for the singles match and that was a big part of this, knowing that it has been a major road for her to return from the injury. Now we know Mercedes will challenge for the TBS Title. We do know Mercedes will be out for a full year since she last wrestled and it will be against Willow, whom she blames for causing the injury, but we know Mercedes will be cleared for in May, just a little over a month at Double or Nothing.”
We will have to wait and see how AEW will book Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale’s feud in the coming weeks, as fans can’t wait to see Mone make her in-ring return.
