A recent WWE live event in the UK showcased a dazzling array of stars, signaling the ongoing success of the promotion’s ‘new era’ with audiences worldwide. This includes Wayne Rooney and Anthony Joshua as well.
Friday evening saw WWE host an electrifying event at the O2 Arena in London, England, doubling as the venue for WWE Money in the Bank 2023. Among the notable attendees were renowned sports figures, with soccer icon Wayne Rooney gracing the crowd and boxer Anthony Joshua seizing the opportunity to connect with Natalya and the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
Rooney’s appearance at the O2 Arena isn’t his first venture into the WWE realm. Back in 2015, during an event in London, he found himself in the spotlight when confronted by King Barrett. Displaying his trademark grit, the Manchester United luminary swiftly retaliated with a memorable slap to Barrett.
Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua, whose last bout was a knockout victory over Francis Ngannou in March, is gearing up for his next fight slated for September. While the Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time World Boxing Champion has yet to grace a WWE ring, he expressed interest in pursuing professional wrestling back in 2021. We’ll have to see if they will appear on WWE television again.
