The Deleter of Worlds, Matt Hardy has become a free agent following the expiration of his contract with AEW in recent memory following a lackluster run in the company that many expected would have turned out to be better than his last WWE run.
A veteran of the business, Matt Hardy was brought into AEW in 2020 under his Broken persona to add more star power and credibility to the roster, only for Hardy’s presence not to make any significant contributions to the company.
The reports confirming the expiration of the former ECW champion’s contract with AEW shed light on his future endeavors. Notably, Hardy himself acknowledged this development, coinciding with his promotion of WWE last week.
But in a recent development, Matt Hardy took to his X to hint at making another AEW appearance with Jeff Hardy despite no longer being a part of the company. Hardy took aim at the upcoming tag team ladder match between The Young Bucks and FTR for the vacant AEW World Tag Team Titles at AEW Dynasty, being the prime leaders for revolutionizing the ladder match.
“Everyone knows I’m a huge advocate for the @youngbucks & I think FTR have been on an unprecedented run over the last year – So I am greatly intrigued by this #AEWDynasty Ladder Match. This match will be a show-stealer.. But maybe Brother Nero & I need to remind both teams, contract or no contract, who made the Ladder Match famous.”
Despite bidding farewell to AEW, Hardy reaffirmed his commitment to active wrestling, dispelling any notions of retirement. As fans eagerly await his next move and with Hardy teasing an appearance on AEW Dynasty this weekend, speculation runs rife about the trajectory of Hardy’s storied career.
