Drew McIntyre earned his WrestleMania moment when he defeated Seth Rollins in the opening match of Night Two to win the World Heavyweight Championship. However, moments after his victory, the Scottish Warrior lost his title after Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to shock the world.
For months now, Drew McIntyre’s contract status with WWE has been a topic of discussion. The Scottish Warrior hasn’t signed with the company yet and with his loss at WrestleMania 40, fans speculate that McIntyre might not re-sign. However, that isn’t the belief backstage.
As per the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the belief backstage is that Drew McIntyre will re-sign with the company with him being advertised for numerous shows in the future. Not only that, but the report also states that McIntyre is now considered alongside Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins as some of the top full-time stars of the company.
“Those in WWE expect Drew McIntyre is re-signing with WWE, seeing it as enough of a given he’s being advertised on shows post contract expiration. The feeling was that while he had talked of taking time off if not creatively fulfilled, that he very much is now and is seen as one of the company’s top full-time wrestlers with Rhodes and Rollins.”
While McIntyre has seemingly not signed a contract with the company yet, things might change in the next few weeks. With a new contract, massive doors might open up for the star in the future. Ringside News will keep you updated on this story.
