WWE WrestleMania 40 Sunday featured Cody Rhodes dethroning Roman Reigns as the Undisputed Universal Champion, and it also had The Rock try to help out Reigns to no avail. Interestingly enough, Rhodes believes WWE’s success might entice The Rock to return.
Cody Rhodes is currently touring the UK as part of an ongoing WWE tour. This marks his first overseas tour as the Undisputed WWE Champion. In an interview on Good Morning Britain, Rhodes discussed the possibility of a showdown with The Rock.
Rhodes expressed that the key factor in enticing The Rock to return for a match would be his ability to elevate his own championship reign. He highlighted the importance of being not just a good champion, but a great champion, much like Roman Reigns, who set a high standard with his own reign.
“I think it’ll really come down to can I be a good champion or a great champion, Roman Reigns was a great champion, and will that be enough to entice The Rock?”
Rhodes also emphasized the significance of WWE’s overall success in attracting The Rock back into the fold. He pointed to the current generation of WWE talent, including Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, and himself, as contributing to the company’s momentum. Rhodes believes that the better the current roster performs and the more successful WWE becomes, the higher the likelihood of The Rock being enticed to return.
“This run, it’s a whole new generation, a whole new locker room. Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, myself, Rhea Ripley, all these people. I think the more we keep this, the better we do, the more chances it lures Rock back into the fray.”
For the record, The Rock is also eyeing return at WrestleMania 41. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see whether The Great One and Cody Rhodes will square off against each other eventually.
