Tony Khan has stepped up the game in the world of professional wrestling with the introduction of his promotion, AEW in 2019 as another major land of opportunity for stars looking to make a mark inside the squared circle.

The AEW President and CEO has brought renowned names to his roster, produced sell-out shows, and garnered huge attention for his startup promotion in only five years of its inception in the business.

However, he has been often criticized for his questionable bookings, big spends on acquiring top names, and even production quality of his shows that have seen dropping ratings and less live audience records. Most recently he was slammed for defending his decision for airing the AEW All In security footage featuring the real-life altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry.

During a recent media call, Tony Khan was asked about the possibility of stepping down as the booker and handing over the reins to someone else. He acknowledged that no one remains in a position forever.

However, the AEW President expressed that he is currently enjoying his role more than ever. Khan approaches his responsibilities with a year-to-year and moment-to-moment mindset. He also highlighted the loyalty of many wrestlers to him at present and pledged to reciprocate their loyalty by providing them with his full support.

“When questioned if there was a scenario where he would step down as the booker and pass the reins to someone else, Khan acknowledged that no one stays in a position forever. He expressed that he’s currently enjoying his role more than ever. Khan approaches things with a year-to-year and moment-to-moment mindset. He noted the loyalty of many wrestlers to him at present and pledged to reciprocate their loyalty by doing his utmost to support them.”

While Tony Khan has left the door open for a new leader to take over in the future, his current fulfillment in doing his job is indicative of the fact that the era of the Khan family would be staying for an extended run moving forward.
