It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means! The AEW Dynasty go-home episode of Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the April 17, 2024 episode.

AEW Dynamite Results (4/17/2024):

The show opens up with Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone welcoming us as new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley makes his way down to the ring.

Jon Moxley grabs a mic and starts off by saying one of the first titles he won was in a community center from Indianapolis and he never had help. Moxley then says people have told him what he can and can’t do throughout his entire career and all they need to do is to watch him. Moxley then points to his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and says it’s stepped in history. Moxley then says he has been chasing it for 5 year and he has gone thousands of miles across the ocean. Moxley then says at one point, people said him holding the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship was impossible, but he knew he wasn’t. Moxley then points to his heart and says it’s about what’s in there. Moxley then says it’s all about how hard you can push when your back is against the wall.

Moxley then addresses The Don Callis Family and calls Don Callis a creep. Moxley then says Callis is feeding his fellow stable members lies and they put a hit out on Bryan Danielson this past Saturday on AEW Collision after Konosuke Takeshita blindsided him following Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs’ tag team match against him and Claudio Castagnoli. Moxley then says if they target Danielson, they may as well target him as well. Moxley then tells The Don Callis Family he will be in the arena all night, then challenges Hobbs to a match next Wednesday. Moxley then says he will drag Hobbs to the deepest waters and Hobbs will know the difference between the two of them as well as the fact that Callis is feeding him lies.

We then head to the back, where “The CEO” Mercedes Moné discusses how someone attacked her in the dark because they are afraid to face her in the light. Moné then says she always gets back up and she can’t wait to get payback on the b***h who attacked her last week. Moné then says having the lights off sounds a little too familiar and it sounds like Julia Hart doesn’t want to face her at Double or Nothing. Moné then says she is putting the entire women’s division on notice and she will be watching Julia Hart and Willow Nightingale’s match at Dynasty. Moné then says there is a price to pay when you mess with her.

TNT Champion “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland makes his way down to the ring. Willow Nightingale’s music then hits, but she doesn’t appear. We then head to the back, where we see Nightingale grabbing her neck as it appears she was attacked. Stokely Hathaway, Kris Statlander and a medical official then check on Nightingale. Brody King then appears behind Copeland and attacks him as TBS Champion Julia Hart appears on the ramp. King hits a running crossbody on Copeland that places Copeland between himself and the barricade. King then gets inside the ring and Copeland crawls in to join him.

Mixed Tag Team Match: TNT Champion “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland and Willow Nightingale vs. House Of Black’s TBS Champion Julia Hart and Brody King

The match officially starts off with King hitting Copeland with a splash in the corner. King then follows it up with a chop. King then delivers right hands on Copeland in the corner. Both men then teeter on the middle rope before Copeland hits King with a right hand that knocks him off the ropes. Copeland then hits a crossbody on King, but King responds with a chop. Copeland then hits King with a boot, then follows it up with a blockbuster off the top rope. Copeland then goes for a spear, but King blasts Copeland with a clothesline. King then looks to hits a cannonball on Copeland in the corner, but Copeland moves out of the way.

Nightingale then makes her way down to the ring. Nightingale then fires Copeland up, then tags herself in. Nightingale then hits a crossbody on King and Copeland follows it up with a spear. Nightingale then hits a cannonball on King in the corner, but Hart enters the ring and nails Nightingale with a chain as the referee is distracted checking on King. Hart then puts Nightingale in the Hartless submission and Nightingale submits.

After the match, “The CEO” Mercedes Moné makes her way down to the ring with a chair in hand. Hart and King then slide out of the ring before she can use it on them and the House of Black members retreat up the ramp. Nightingale and Moné then have a tense moment before Copeland shakes Moné’s hand.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing AEW World Champion Samoa Joe. Joe says Swerve Strickland is more of a nuisance than a worthy adversary. Joe then says no matter how many times he puts Strickland in the dirt, Strickland keeps rising up, which reminds him more of a punching bag than a future World Champion. Paquette then talks about Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana holding up the AEW World Title last week and Joe says he was worried about how his title needed to be disinfected after last week as they know where Nana has been. Joe then calls Strickland a choke artist, who comes close to winning the big one, but comes up short. Joey then says history will repeat itself at Dynasty she he will cement his legacy as the greatest AEW Champion of all time. Joe then says Strickland is a choke artist, but at Dynasty he will be the one to choke Strickland out.

We then see The Elite interrupt a video package hyping up their Ladder Match in the finals of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament against FTR at AEW Dynasty. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson then tell FTR to watch them in their upcoming Trios Match before “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada sends a warning to PAC ahead of their AEW Continental Championship Match on Sunday.

The Elite then make their way down to the ring for the next match and PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, Alex Abrahantes and Daniel Garcia make their way down to the ring next.

Trios Match: The Elite (“The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada, Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) vs. “The Bastard” PAC, Daniel Garcia and Penta El Zero Miedo

The match starts off with PAC and Kazuchika Okada. The Young Bucks nail PAC from behind as Okada blasts Penta and Garcia off the paron. Nicholas then tags in and PAC nails him with kicks. PAC then hits Nicholas with a dropkick, then tags Penta in. Penta and PAC then hit a moonsault-leg drop combination on Nicholas and Okada blindsides Penta while the referee is distracted to keep PAC out of the ring. Matthew then tags in and he wears Penta down, then he tags Nicholas back in. Matthew then charges at Penta, but Penta sends him crashing out of the ring. Penta then hits Nicholas with a kick to his midsection, then tags Garcia in. Garcia then hits a double underhook suplex on Nicholas, then delivers some right hands on him in the corner. Garcia then runs the ropes, but Okada pulls him out of the ring. Garcia then hits Nicholas with right hands on the outside.

Garcia then delivers some chops on Okada and Nicholas. Garcia then hits Nicholas with a suplex in the ring, then Matthew is tagged in. Matthew then grabs a mic and tells Garcia to show him something. Matthew then asks Garcia to show him why they hired him and Garcia hits him with a back suplex. PAC then tags in and nails Matthew with a right hand. PAC then follows it up with a back elbow and a German suplex, then hits one on Nicholas as well. PAC then sends The Young Bucks out of the ring, then jumps off the top ropes and lands on them. PAC ten calls for Okada to get in the ring, but Matthew nails him from behind. Okada then tags in and The Elite triple team PAC.

Okada then hits a belly to back piledriver-backbreaker combination on PAC. Penta then tags in and nails Okada, then pins him. Nicholas breaks up the fall and hits a double suplex on Penta with the help of Matthew, but Garcia enters the ring to take them down. PAC then hits Okada with forearms, then follows it up with a superkick. PAC then climbs to the top, but Matthew trips him while the referee isn’t looking. Garcia then tags in and nails Okada with forearms. Okada then hits Garcia with a dropkick, but Garcia responds with a jackknife pin. Okada then kicks out and hits a Tombstone on Garcia. Penta then goes for a Sling Blade on Okada, but Okada hits him with a Tombstone. Okada then tags in and hits the Rainmaker for the win.

After the match, The Young Bucks hit Garcia with an EVP Trigger. Matthew then goes after Penta and a ladder is introduced into the ring. Garcia then gets positioned between a ladder and Nicholas climbs to the top. PAC then knocks him off with the ring bell hammer.

“Lionheart” Chris Jericho and FTW Champion HOOK then make their way down to the ring as Taz is already waiting.

Taz starts off by saying he is in the ring to make sure everything goes nice and easy. Jericho then thanks Taz and HOOK for meeting with him and says he wants to clarify a few things. Jericho says Katsuyori Shibata was collateral damage and he felt like HOOK wasn’t listening to him. Jericho then calls himself “the Greatest of All Time” and says everyone that has listened to him has found great success. Jericho then says he knows he can get HOOK to the top and asks HOOK if he is ready to sit under the brilliant branches of the learning tree.

HOOK then tells Jericho no and Jericho asks HOOK what he means. HOOK then tells Jericho he doesn’t need his help and Taz interrupts him. Jericho then cuts Taz off and says he needs to rid HOOK of negative influences in his life. Taz then tries to get Jericho to calm down and Jericho stops him. Jericho then tells HOOK he is not ready and not as good as he thinks he is. Taz then tries calming Jericho down once again and Jericho shoves him. HOOK then gets in Jericho’s face and tells him he crossed a line. HOOK then says he will show Jericho he is ready and he will show it to him at any time and any place. HOOK then tells Jericho to get out of his ring and Jericho leaves the ring.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Swerve Strickland. Strickland laughs about Samoa Joe calling him a choke artist. Strickland says he has stumbled throughout his own career, but he has always fallen forward into success. Swerve then talks about all the times he got put down and got back up. Strickland then says this Sunday at Dynasty Joe will call him the new AEW World Champion. Renee then asks Swerve what makes him so confident. Strickland says with all due respect this isn’t something he should answer to her as he should answer it to Samoa Joe. Swerve then gets up close to the camera and says he will tell Joe to his face in the ring later on tonight.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: “The Virtuosa” Deonna Purrazzo vs. Mariah May

The match starts off with Purrazzo hitting May with a Side Russian Leg Sweep and looking to put May in an arm bar. May then avoids it and ends up on the outside and Purrazzo looks to put May down. Storm then helps May move out of the wa and May begins beating Purrazzo down. Purrazzo then hits May with a hanging DDT, then climbs to the top. May then sends Purrazzo crashing to the outside. Purrazzo then blasts May before the two go back and forth with forearm strikes. May then hits Purrazzo with a forearm, but Purrazzo puts May in the Fujiwara Armbar. May escapes and hits Purrazzo with a headbutt, then follows it up with a Hip Attack. May then hits Purrazzo with a Tornado DDT and pins Purrazzo, but Purrazzo counters into a pin of her own for the win.

After the match, Storm and May beat Purrazzo down, but Thunder Rosa makes her way down to the ring to even the odds. Rosa then takes both Storm and May out. Purrazzo and Rosa then begin shoving each other and May pulls Purrazzo out of the ring. Both women then begin brawling on the outside as Rosa puts lipstick on Storm while holding her in place.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions “Switchblade” Jay White and The Gunns. They tell Paquette to sound more excited when she is around The Bang Bang Gang. White then says they have been having a blast the past few months and they will fulfill their destiny at Dynasty as The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass have what they want. White then says it will be AEW World Trios Titles vs. the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles at Dynasty, where the winners will take all the titles.

AEW World Trios Champions The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass then accept Bullet Club Gold’s challenge for AEW Dynasty and make a challenge of their own to two members of Bullet Club Gold for a tag team match at Collision.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. Shane Taylor

The match starts off with Cassidy hitting Taylor with a couple of dropkicks. Cassidy then goes for a Tornado DDT, but Taylor counters it into a hanging neckbreaker using the top rope. Lee Moriarty then beats Cassidy down on the outside as Taylor distracts the referee. Moriarty then sends Cassidy back in the ring. Taylor then hits Cassidy with a chop. Cassidy then sends Taylor’s head bouncing off the top turnbuckle and nails him with some right hands. Anthony Ogogo and Lee Moriarty then try to interfere as Cassidy teeters on the top rope, but Cassidy fights them off. Cassidy then hits Taylor with a Stun-Dog Millionaire, then follows it up with tope suicidas on Moriarty and Ogogo on the outside. Cassidy then goes for an Orange Punch on Taylor, but Taylor avoids it. Cassidy then hits Taylor with an Orange Punch, but Taylor responds with an open palm strike. Cassidy then hits Taylor with a second Orange Punch for the win.

After the match, Moriarty holds Cassidy in place as Ogogo blasts Cassidy with a right hand. Ogogo and Moriarty then hold Cassidy in place once again and FTR make their way down to the ring to help Cassidy out. A hooded figure then blasts both Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler with a chair and reveals themself to be Trent Beretta. Shane Taylor Promotions then continues to beat Cassidy down and drapes a flag with their logo on top of Cassidy.

We then get highlights from last week’s Battle of the Belts, where AEW International Champion Roderick Strong turned on Kyle O’Reilly. Strong says when they step in the ring at Dynasty, he will end O’Reilly forever.

We then get the entrances of the main event, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli vs. “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay

The match starts off with Castagnoli hitting Ospreay with an uppercut. Castagnoli then goes for a pin, but Ospreay kicks out. Ospreay then looks to hit a hurricanrana on Castagnoli, but Castagnoli catches him and hits him with a backbreaker. Ospreay then hits Castagnoli with a series of chops, but Castagnoli responds with a hurricanrana off the middle rope. Ospreay then hits Castagnoli with a kick on the outside and looks to fly, but Castagnoli moves out of the way. Ospreay then nails Castagnoli with a right hand off the barricade, then sends Castagnoli’s face bouncing off the apron and gets him back inside the ring. Ospreay then looks to fly back to the inside, but Castagnoli catches him and nails him with a right hand and a double stomp. Castagnoli then follows it up with a backbreaker before the two exchange strikes. Ospreay then hits Castagnoli with a hurricanrana, then looks to hit him with a crossbody over the top rope. Castagnoli then sends Ospreay crashing into the ring apron spine first.

Ospreay then hits Castagnoli with a forearm off the top rope. Ospreay then puts Castagnoli in a Sharpshooter, but Castagnoli counters into a Sharpshooter of his own. Ospreay then tries to go to the bottom rope, but Castagnoli transitions into a crossface. Ospreay then counters the move into a pinfall and Castagnoli kicks out. Ospreay then goes for the Os Cutter, but Castagnoli avoids it. Ospreay then hits Castagnoli with a powerbomb and some kicks before Castagnoli delivers some right hands on Ospreay’s midsection in the corner. Castagnoli then nails Ospreay, but Ospreay kips up and hits an enzuigiri on Castagnoli. Castagnoli then hits Ospreay with a Death Valley Driver, but Ospreay responds with a Spanish Fly. Castagnoli then hits Ospreay with a pop-up uppercut, then looks to hit The Giant Swing. Ospreay is able to escape it with a Tornado DDT and a modified Phoenix Splash. Ospreay then hits Castagnoli with his finisher for the win.

After the match, The Don Callis Family appears and beats Castagnoli down. Jon Moxley’s music then hits and he appears through the crowd and fights off The Don Callis Family. Ospreay then rushes to the back as The Don Callis Family retreats up the ramp.

Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana then make their way down to the ring and Strickland says he was asked early on how he believes he can beat Samoa Joe at Dynasty. Strickland says last week he left Joe with fear as Joe ran off like a little b***h and he raised the AEW World Title in the air. Strickland then says he is waiting for Joe to come to the ring and tell him to his face. AEW World Champion Samoa Joe then makes his way out with security trying to hold him back. Strickland then hits all the security with a Swerve Stomp off the top rope before coming face to face with Joe. Joe then nails Strickland and sends Strickland into the ring before Joe stalks Prince Nana down in the corner. Strickland then hits Joe with a boot and follows it up with the House Call. Joe then hits Strickland with a Muscle Buster and stands tall over Strickland. Joe then raises the AEW World Title in the air as the show comes to a close.
