Will Ospreay’s transition to AEW last year sparked considerable discussion within the wrestling community and he is now a full-fledged AEW star. In fact, he is now feuding with Bryan Danielson and is determined to take the throne from him.
Will Ospreay has built an impressive track record in AEW by defeating prominent names like Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Orange Cassidy in the ring. This Sunday at AEW Dynasty, he faces another significant challenge as he goes up against Bryan Danielson, who is regarded by many as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. The match is expected to be a highly anticipated showdown between two skilled and accomplished wrestlers.
Will Ospreay expressed his deep admiration and respect for Bryan Danielson in a conversation with Raj Prashad of Uproxx Sports. He shared that he doesn’t have the vocabulary to convey how much the match with Danielson means to him, but emphasized that he isn’t starstruck by Danielson and views him as someone he can surpass.
Ospreay acknowledged Danielson’s accomplishments across various wrestling promotions but stated his confidence in being able to outperform Danielson in everything he has done. Ospreay continued by stating his readiness to challenge the older generation, specifically Danielson, as he believes it’s time for the next generation of wrestlers to take the lead. Ospreay aims to take the throne from Danielson as he approaches the end of his full-time career.
“The respect I have for Bryan Danielson, I don’t have the vocabulary to be able to tell you how meaningful this match is to me. But it doesn’t mean that I’m starstruck by Bryan Danielson. I do see him as somebody that is reachable. I can take anything that Bryan Danielson has ever done, whether it’s in Ring of Honor or the other company, and do it better.
You want this next generation to kick your ass, and here I am. I’m ready to take the reins from you. You’ve been the greatest wrestler of all time for god knows how long. But like you said, you’re coming to the end of your full-time career. I’m here to take the throne from you now, mate.”
Ospreay exuded determination and readiness to prove himself against one of the best in the business, so it remains to be seen whether The Aerial Assassin will triumph over Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty next month.
