Matt Riddle’s time in WWE was tumultuous, marred by controversies stemming from his conduct outside the ring, ultimately culminating in his unexpected release last year. With that said, he no-sold the finish to a title match at NJPW Windy City Riot.

After losing the NJPW World Television Championship at NJPW Windy City Riot 2024, Matt Riddle showed no interest in sticking around. He lost the title to Zack Sabre Jr. at the April 12 event in Chicago, IL.

Following his defeat, Riddle promptly exited the ring and walked backstage, laughing and dancing without showing any concern for the loss. This behavior suggests that the championship title held little significance for Riddle.

Zack Sabre Jr.’s victory makes him the first-ever two-time NJPW World Television Champion. He was the inaugural champion, having won the title at Wrestle Kingdom in January 2017 and holding it for exactly one year. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see what’s next in store for The King of Bros now that he is not a champion.
