Tama Tonga announced at Wrestle Kingdom 18 that he would leave the company in January and many feel he is WWE-bound now. Following WrestleMania 40, it appears he might be debuting on SmackDown tonight.

Tama Tonga’s wrestling heritage has deep roots, passed down from his father Haku. Haku’s legacy in Japan started in sumo and later transitioned to All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he adopted the names Tama Tonga, King Tonga, Haku, and Meng. As previously reported, Tama Tonga will be joining WWE.

According to PWInsider, Tama Tonga has been spotted in Detroit, Michigan, and is expected to make his debut on WWE television soon, possibly as early as tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. SmackDown is taking place in Detroit, and Tama Tonga’s presence suggests he may start his WWE run immediately, adding anticipation to the show.
