The landscape of NXT has undergone a major change with the new era of WWE dawing upon us, as the supersonic duo of Nathan Frazer and Axiom, who had their back pushed against the wall, rose to the occasion to attain championship glory.
The dynamic duo fell short of capturing the NXT Tag Team Titles last week at NXT Stand and Deliver against the defending champions, Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin, collectively known as The Wolf Dogs.
A video released by NXT Synomous on social media showcased Axiom and Frazer in a private conversation with NXT General Manager Ava. It was later revealed that she had granted them one more opportunity against Corbin and Breakker on tonight’s edition of NXT. However, the rematch came with a condition that should they fail to capture the titles, both would go their separate ways and disband as a tag team.
With the stakes higher than ever, Nathan Frazer and Axiom left everything they had inside the squared circle against the dominant and compatible duo of Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker with the NXT Universe being excited for the entire bout.
But the closing moments of the match saw some miscommunication on the champions’ part, giving Frazer to connect a dropkick on Bron Breakker followed by a top rope dive by Axiom to secure the pinfall and become the new NXT Tag Team champions and remain together as a cohesive unit.
However, their celebrations were cut short with the arrival of the main roster faction, The Final Testament, Karrion Kross, and AOP, flanked by WWE Hall of Famer Paul Ellering and Scarlett, laying the new champions and making a huge statement on the first NXT of a new era.
