Jey Uso has been booked as a babyface ever since he left The Bloodline last year and he got a huge shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after RAW this week, with some help from CM Punk. Uso has now acknowledged Punk’s help in him getting the title shot.
With assistance from CM Punk, Jey Uso secured victory by pinning Drew McIntyre in a four-way match on the April 8 episode of WWE RAW. This win granted him the opportunity to challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.
In a RAW Exclusive interview, Jey Uso expressed his excitement about his victory and being referred to as the number one contender by Jackie Redmond.
“Damn, that sounds good. Man, we wrapping up WrestleMania week with a big W. Man, I’m on fire. I’m happy. Look, I’m ecstatic. I’m proud. Hard work is paying off. You know what it is. YEET.”
When questioned about CM Punk’s assistance, Jey Uso quipped that Punk helped him out because they attended a hockey game together. He remarked that Punk provided the assist, and he simply slammed it home.
“You know why? It’s because we bought ice cream together. We was watching hockey together, uce. We was watching hockey together, uce. He’s like, ‘Hold up, man.’ My boy Jey out there, Drew McIntyre stay trippin’, I’m gonna tie his shoes for him. What he do? CM Punk gave me the assist. Passed it off to me, grabbed it, slam dunk, boomed on Drew. Boom.”
Regarding Damian Priest, Jey Uso acknowledged that his focus has been on Priest and the impending Judgment Day. He emphasized the need to bring his best performance.
“Shoutout to that boy, Damian Priest. Judgment Day, my eye’s been on you, uce. I know I’m gonna have to bring my ‘A’ game to you. I know you about that game, uce. I ain’t gonna take you lightly. But guess what? Jey Uso is now in your city and now after your title, uce.”
We will have to wait and see whether Jey Uso will be able to defeat Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as fans feel ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso more than deserves it.
