Ilja Dragunov has been on a roll as the NXT Champion and he has been able to topple all of his adversaries over the past several months. He had a successful debut on RAW this week, and he has now commented on the same.
The RAW following WrestleMania is renowned for its grand atmosphere, fueled by the passionate WWE Universe, which often brings forth a unique energy and surprises. This was no exception on this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW after WrestleMania 40.
The evening’s first in-ring bout showcased the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura, facing off against Ilja Dragunov. Unsurprisingly, The Mad Dragon would topple Shinsuke Nakamura in the end.
While speaking on RAW Talk, Ilja Dragunov was asked about his thoughts on his match against Shinsuke Nakamura and his condition. Dragunov noted that he was sore from the battle and that he was simply looking for the next challenge.
“Well, for now, all I can say is that I’m beaten up. I’m very, very sore. But if there’s one thing that people know about me, it’s that I’m always looking out for the next fight. I’m always prepared. That’s why they call me the Mad Dragon, that’s why they call me the tsar. ‘Unbe Sigbar’ is what people think when they hear the name Ilja Dragunov. So what I’m looking out for next after this absolutely outstanding weekend is just the next challenge to show the people that my heart is burning. And all I know is, yeah, probably pure intensity.”
With the WWE Draft on the horizon and Ilja Dragunov already announced as part of it, anticipation builds as to whether any of the main roster WWE brands, such as RAW or SmackDown, will vie to acquire the NXT champion for their respective show.
