WWE WrestleMania 40 Sunday witnessed one of the most shocking ends in the history of the premier show when the compelling title reign of The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns came to its demise at the end of Cody Rhodes.
The American Nightmare fought Roman Reigns in a match contested under Bloodline Rules that heavily favored the champion and made it extremely difficult for Rhodes to finish his story.
However, Rhodes left everything he had inside the squared circle, outlasted every major interference with the help of legendary and top stars on the WWE roster, and struck three finisher moves to pin Roman Reigns for the three-count and claim the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
The end of Roman Reigns’ era-defining championship signaled the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Interestingly, the event had a connection in regard to his older brother, Matt Anoa’i, who was born on the same day, April 7, years ago as the day his younger brother suffered the biggest defeat of his career.
However, Matt was not present to witness the sight as he left the world in 2017 due to heart complications. As for Roman Reigns, the Island of Relevancy has been decimated and replaced by the Kingdom of Cody Rhodes who is ready to lead WWE into perhaps an era that would take the industry to a whole different level.
