The intense and deeply personal feud between Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch reached its climax in one of the most explosive women’s matches in WrestleMania history. In a fierce showdown, Rhea Ripley emerged victorious, retaining her WWE Women’s World Championship title and solidifying her dominance in the ring. The match opened the show and Triple H defended the reason for that decision.
The Man earned her chance to face Mami by emerging victorious in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match two months ago. To kick off tonight’s WrestleMania 40 Saturday, she had to navigate through one of the most unpredictable and formidable competitors of all time. The Eradicator would ultimately defeat Big Time Becks in a solid match.
While speaking at the WrestleMania 40 press conference, Triple H was asked about opening the show with Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley. Triple H defended his decision to have them open the show and explained why it made the most sense and he didn’t do it just for the sake of women competing.
”Everything goes in the show for a specific reason and to where it sits, it’s not a perfect science, in many ways you’re feeling it, so what’s the feel of the show? Clearly in this night you’re closing with The Rock, but when I look to the rest of it, it wasn’t even a choice for me. Becky and Rhea are gonna open the show and that is I know it’s going to deliver and they will be going at it from the get to, so when I look at it, what do I want to launch this with? What’s my first step out of the gate, so there was no doubt to me.”
”I do not look at it like ”Oh the women, oh they deserve this and that.” If the women are put in the spots it’s the best spot, I truly believe that. I don’t think about it in that matter, to me if I was thinking about it as we were all putting it together, ‘maybe we should put the women there, we haven’t done that in a little bit.’ How is that equality? It’s not how it should be thought about. I see all the athletes as the same, male or female.”
We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Rhea Ripley as she is truly indomitable as the Women’s World Champion and no one else will be able to beat her by the looks of it.
