The anticipation and hype for the biggest tag team match in the history of WrestleMania exceeded all expectations in the main event of Night 1 of the 40th edition of The Show of Shows, with The Rock and Roman Reigns emerging victorious and influencing the stipulation for the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night 2 in the favor of the Tribal Chief.
The Rock and Roman Reigns squared off against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 Saturday in the explosive tag team showdown pitting four of the best WWE superstars of all time.
Moreover, it was The Rock’s first outing inside the squared circle after nearly eight years away from the ring with his return happening on the Grandest Stage of them All he looked to be in absolute physical shape and also abused his power as the TKO board member.
The match exceeded all the expectations that the WWE Universe had considering the magnitude of the star power, in-ring acumen, and high-stakes stipulation involved going all over the Lincoln Financial Field. Moreover, The Final Boss displayed an excellent showing inside the ring, not losing a step, alongside Roman Reigns while Seth and Cody fought their enemies with everything in their arsenal to free WWE from the Bloodline’s Iron Fist rule.
Cody and Seth looked to put Roman away with a series of double-team moves, only for The Rock to pull the referee to break the pinfall, giving Reigns to hit the low blow, but Cody Rhodes still kicked out of the pin attempt.
As The Rock and Roman Reigns looked to finish off Cody Rhodes, Rollins re-emerged to stop the attempt. But The Rock then brought the weight belt into the mix, mocking his mother sitting in attendance, only for Rhodes to stop his attempt and even block a People’s Elbow from The Final Boss as the bout continued.
But the conclusion of the match finally came after a hard-fought and chaotic battle when The Rock smashed Cody with the weight belt and Roman Reigns connected with a spear. The Rock entered the ring, laid out Rhodes with the Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow to pin Cody Rhodes, and gave his team the win. With that win, it concludes that Cody’s match on Night 2 with Reigns for the title will now be contested under Bloodline Rules, making his story incredibly hard to finish.
