Amidst the excitement surrounding WWE’s buildup to WrestleMania 40, AEW has made waves by unexpectedly releasing a group of superstars from their roster. The reasoning behind Tony Khan’s decision to release these stars remains unclear, adding an air of mystery to the situation. Now, one AEW star who was recently released has broken his silence.

The first to be let go was Stu Grayson, followed swiftly by AEW ring announcer Dasha Kuret. In total, approximately 10 stars have been released from AEW thus far. Alongside Grayson and Kuret, Parker Boudreaux, Slim J, Gravity, Anthony Henry, Jora Johl, Jose The Assistant, and the Boys have also been added to the list of departures from the company.

Slim J was among the wrestlers released by AEW in a recent round of cuts. He had been a frequent competitor on AEW Dark, Dark: Elevation, and ROH programming, and he had a notable stint as a member of The Trustbusters.

On April 2, Slim J confirmed his release on social media. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and extended thanks to Ariya Daivari and Caprice Coleman. Slim J also expressed gratitude towards the fans and affirmed his determination not to give up.

”I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked for AEW. Unfortunately yesterday was no April fools joke. I appreciate @AriyaDaivari for always bringing my name up and believing in me. @CapriceColeman you always put me over. As did @WilliamBehrens Thank you.

Thank you to the fans that supported me. My gimmick was trash. I get that. I knew that. My work wasn’t though. I worked my shoot job through both contracts with AEW. My role there was to act rich. I’ve always been far from that in real life. Promise that.

All I wanted to do once I was signed. Was to get my wife and daughter out of the shit hole we live in. They’re my everything by far.i failed. Does it mean I quit. Not at all. Mouths to feed and I’m broke asf. So I’m looking for a second, second job. Stop sleeping on me.

Dasha Kuret has also commented on her AEW release. We will have to wait and see whether AEW will end up releasing more talent this year, as the company continues to undergo more changes.
