Ortiz, a prominent wrestler in AEW, is currently on the path to recovery following surgery for a torn pectoral muscle.
Taking to Instagram, Ortiz shared the news of his successful pec surgery, injecting a bit of humor into the situation by referencing a classic Rocky training montage. The wrestler had previously discussed the injury in Isiah Kassidy’s vlog, attributing the tear to a clothesline incident.
Speaking about the expected recovery period, Ortiz mentioned that he anticipates being sidelined for approximately four months.
Ortiz’s last match in AEW was back in January, where he teamed up with Eddie Kingston in a match against Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli on AEW Collision. Unfortunately, the injury prevented him from competing in a scheduled match for Ethan Page’s Alpha-1 Wrestling in March, prompting him to take on the roles of commentator and special guest referee instead.
Prior to the January match, Ortiz had not wrestled for AEW since October 2023, when he faced off against his former tag team partner, Mike Santana, in a no DQ match. It was later confirmed that Santana had departed AEW last month.
As Ortiz focuses on his recovery journey, fans eagerly await his return to the ring, anticipating the moment when he can once again showcase his talent and resilience in the squared circle.
