WWE has never been more successful than it is today. From consecutive sellouts to broken records, millions around the world have been calling the current era better than the Attitude Era. While WWE has been making numerous dream feuds come true in the current era, some of them were left out from becoming a reality in the Attitude Era as well.
While there have been numerous dream feuds that were never seen in the company, one of the biggest ones was a feud between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. Being two of the biggest pioneers of the wrestling industry, both the Hall of Famers deserved to have a match.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Hulk Hogan stated that he also wanted to have a match with the Nature Boy back in the day. Not only that, but Hogan also stated that Flair was the greatest to ever do it.
“I wanted to work with Ric. There’s no doubt he was one of the greatest ever. Earlier in my career, I wanted to work with Piper and Orndorff. Later on, I loved working with Chris Jericho. He was just amazing. I wrestled a match with Randy Orton, and I loved that. I always loved wrestling, and I liked the challenge of working with different guys. I loved wrestling The Rock. If you’re going to create magic, there is a formula, a feel, a timing, and a placement. That’s the ‘It Factor’–you need to be able to see it and feel it.”
Hogan also commented on never getting a chance to face Ric Flair in his entire WWE career. While both men got to face each other in WCW, a match in WWE would’ve been a treat to watch for millions around the world.
“We never really had the chance to run wild together in WWF. That gave us a chance for it to happen in WCW. That was round two for us. People wanted to see it, and you’ve got to give the people what they want to see.”
While Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair didn’t ever happen in WWE, a debate between both men being the greatest of all-time has been long prevailing. Though this might never end, both Hogan and Flair hace made endless contributions to the wrestling industry which the wrestling industry will always be thankful for.
