CM Punk’s arrival in AEW was met with significant fanfare, seemingly setting the stage for a triumphant chapter in his career. However, his time with the company took an unexpected downturn when he was released last year, culminating in a disappointing outcome. In a recent revelation, Punk disclosed the number of contracts he had signed with AEW during his tenure with the promotion.

In 2021, CM Punk made significant impact by joining AEW, swiftly becoming a central figure in the promotion. His crowning achievement came at Double or Nothing 2022 when he secured the AEW World Championship. However, his reign was plagued by injuries, including a torn triceps, following the controversial Brawl Out incident at AEW All Out 2022.

Despite these setbacks, Punk returned to the spotlight in June 2023 as a key figure on AEW Collision. Unfortunately, his time with AEW came to an abrupt end due to an incident involving Jack Perry, resulting in the termination of his contract.

During an appearance on the MMA Hour, CM Punk talked about giving advice to people in AEW as he went on to reveal that he had two contracts with the company. Besides a talent contract, he had a contract as a consultant to Tony Khan.

I would have handled things differently. I wasn’t just hired to be a wrestler, I had two contracts. I was, you know, consultant to Tony or whatever it was.

CM Punk also snubbed AEW in a big way recently, which is not surprising considering how his tenure there ended. We will have to wait and see if he and AEW will eventually make amends one day.
