CM Punk faced a setback due to a triceps injury following an unfortunate incident at the Royal Rumble. However, his unwavering determination to return saw him commit to a rigorous rehabilitation regimen. With that said, Punk has now revealed that WWE is protecting him against himself.
Due to his injury, CM Punk will not be able to compete at WWE WrestleMania 40. However, he will still play a role in the event by providing commentary for the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, CM Punk shared an update on his recovery, expressing that he feels remarkably well. However, he also admitted to a sense of reluctance in revealing the extent of his progress, preferring to keep it somewhat confidential.
Despite feeling significantly better than expected, Punk acknowledged the need for caution, recognizing the temptation to push himself too hard. He referenced the mentality of a hockey player, suggesting a willingness to tough it out, but acknowledged the importance of being safeguarded against potential risks.
“I feel really, really good. There is part of me that doesn’t want everybody to know. I want to keep a bit of a secret. I feel way better than I think I should. It’s giving me a false sense of security. There is very much the hockey player in my head, ‘You could have made Mania. You could have taped it up.’ They are protecting me against myself.”
With WrestleMania 40 on the horizon, Punk’s involvement promises significant excitement and anticipation, as he gears up for what is undoubtedly a pivotal role at the event.
