Ortiz used to team up with Santana as Proud N Powerful, but they ultimately disbanded as the two simply couldn’t work together anymore. Santana’s not part of AEW anymore and as for Ortiz, will be out of action for a long time now after injury.
In a recent appearance on Isiah Kassidy’s vlog, AEW talent Ortiz disclosed that he is currently injured and scheduled for surgery in two weeks from the filming of the episode.
Ortiz revealed that he sustained the injury from a clothesline, resulting in a torn pectoral muscle. He jokingly attributed the injury to being “too jacked,” suggesting that his muscles outpaced his tendons. The recovery time for his injury is expected to be four months, during which he will be out of action.
“I’m injured. I’m injured. I’m about to get surgery in two weeks. It was just from a clothesline. I tore a pec. I tore my pec from a clothesline. It’s because I’m too jacked. I’m so jacked my tendons couldn’t keep up. Two weeks and four months recovery time, and I’ll be back.”
Ortiz last wrestled on the January 20th episode of AEW Collision. Nevertheless, we wish Ortiz all the best for his surgery and wish him a speedy recovery so that he can return to doing what he loves the most as soon as possible.
