Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch were engaged in a feud during the latter half of 2018 and early half of 2019, culminating in a triple threat match. However, it appears Rousey refused to submit to Lynch for a bizarre reason.
At WrestleMania 35 in 2019, the main event featured a highly anticipated Triple Threat Match involving Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey. The match culminated in an intense moment as Lynch seized victory by pinning Rousey, capturing both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships in a historic and memorable fashion.
In her book, Becky Lynch recounted the creative process for the WrestleMania 35 triple threat match, revealing that one proposed idea involved her applying an arm bar on Ronda Rousey, nearly forcing a tap-out before Charlotte Flair intervened.
However, when Rousey arrived later and heard the suggestion, she adamantly rejected the notion, citing her mother’s disapproval of the visual of her almost tapping out.
”When Ronda finally arrived over an hour later, TJ gave her the rundown of the ideas. “And then it looks like you’re about to tap, but—” he explained. “Oh no. My mom would never talk to me again if it looked like I was about to tap.”
With Rousey’s reluctance to portray vulnerability in the match’s climax, Lynch accepted the situation, confident that regardless of the finish—be it a pin, roll-up, or submission—she would emerge victorious, becoming the first woman to triumph in the main event of WrestleMania while holding both championship titles.
”I didn’t feel the need to fight it. Whether it be a pin, a roll-up, or a submission, I was going to be walking out of there holding two championships in the air, having been the first woman to win the main event of WrestleMania.”
Becky Lynch also called out Ronda Rousey for her lack of wrestling skills when arriving in WWE. Nevertheless, Becky Lynch made history and that is all that truly matters to her in the end.
