WWE had been the major landscape of opportunities for stars to succeed in the big leagues until 2019 when Tony Khan, alongside his crew started AEW as a direct competitor to the global juggernaut.

Since then, we have seen major stars jump ship from WWE to the rival promotion while also being let go for multiple reasons. One of those stars had been the immensely popular ‘First Lady of women’s wrestling’, who did not even desire to become a professional wrestler in the first place, Maria Kanellis.

In recent memory on social media, Maria Kanellis was asked by a user on X that they found it hard to believe that the current AEW star was fired by WWE more than once. Maria took to her X to make it clear that she was only let go once by the promotion during her first solo tenure.

It was during her second run with her real-life husband, Mike Bennett back in 2017 when she was not re-signed by WWE due to her demand for more money, but remained optimistic in her response as things worked out well for her.

“Fired once, not resigned because I asked for more money once. It all worked out in the end.”

Maria Kanellis is currently a regular fixture on AEW and its sister promotion, Ring of Honor. Moreover, she even had a few words to say regarding the sexual misconduct allegations against her former employer, Vince McMahon. While it seems Maria is maintaining a good balance between being on live television and taking care of her children, we will have to wait and see what the future holds for the former WWE superstar.
