Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley were engaged in a heated feud last year which culminated in an excellent match at WrestleMania 39. However, WWE has been accused of trying to shorten that match.
Charlotte Flair defended her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39 Saturday. There was a lot of anticipation for the match, as both competitors had proved their worth in the ring. Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in what was an incredible match-up at WrestleMania 39.
In an interview with Cageside Seats, Ronda Rousey revealed that the match between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39 wasn’t initially intended to last as long as it did. However, according to Rousey, Charlotte “threw her big d*** on the table” and insisted on giving the match the time it deserved.
Rousey expressed frustration that women wrestlers often aren’t allowed to showcase their full potential due to concerns about the crowd’s energy for subsequent matches. She criticized this attitude, calling it “bull****” and emphasizing the talent and ability of women wrestlers to deliver amazing performances.
“They weren’t supposed to go that long. The whole time the referee is telling them to go backstage and Charlotte threw her big d*** on the table and said no, we’re gonna do this awesome f***** match. And that’s what (the women are) dealing with. They’re not allowed to show how f****** amazing they are, because ‘Oh, the crowd’s gonna be tired for the guys match afterward’. That’s b******!”
Rhea Ripley also addressed the lackluster build to her match with Charlotte Flair last year. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether she will have as good a match with Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 40 next month.
