Vince McMahon’s expectations for his wrestlers on WWE TV were clear, and he ensured they adhered to them. One superstar recounted a moment when he was threatened with termination if he didn’t comply with the boss’s directives.

In 2017, Enzo Amore transitioned from being a promising young talent to someone whose future in the company was uncertain. Reports of his backstage unpopularity circulated, including rumors of being ejected from a tour bus by Roman Reigns for his behavior.

During a Q&A hosted by SoCalVal for Monopoly Events, Enzo Amore discussed the moment he turned heel on WWE TV. In that infamous segment, he asked a pregnant Maryse who the father of her child was on the day she and The Miz announced they were having a baby. On the same day, he was verbally berated in a promo by The Miz, who referenced rumors about Amore’s backstage unpopularity.

According to Amore, this promo was approved by Vince McMahon, and every word was scripted by the WWE Chairman. McMahon allegedly warned Amore that veering from the script would result in his termination. Despite wanting to remain a face, Amore followed McMahon’s directive, delivering the lines intended to turn him into a heel.

“I was told you’re turning heel and if you respond to The Miz, you’re gonna get fired. Shut up, take the brow-beating from Miz. Save it for the one line that we’ll make you say which will definitely turn you into a heel because that’s a pregnant woman who’s married to that guy you’re in the ring with, and you just said to his wife, ‘You don’t need to say, How you doin’. The question you need to ask is, who’s the daddy?’ That was written by Vince McMahon, delivered by me, and meant to turn me into the bad guy, and it did. I, if I’m honest, never wanted to turn heel.”

It has been over five years since Enzo Amore was fired by WWE due to allegations of sexual assault. After his release, Amore has occasionally competed in the independent circuit. In fact, he has been making big money in the independent scene and he is happy that way.
