Brian Gewirtz is heavily involved in The Rock’s current storyline in WWE and this led to a fan claiming WrestleMania 40 would tank because of him. Gewirtz has now countered such criticism after SmackDown this week.
As stipulated on last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Paul Heyman assured that Roman Reigns would honor the agreement and arrive alone to confront Cody Rhodes in the ring, provided Rhodes also appeared unaccompanied.
On this week’s edition of SmackDown, both competitors met face-to-face, engaging in a heated exchange of words ahead of their highly anticipated main event clash for the Undisputed WWE Universal title in two weeks in Philadelphia.
The segment reached its climax as Reigns, opting not to reciprocate Cody’s offered handshake as a gesture of respect, abruptly exited the ring. However, just as it seemed the confrontation had concluded, Reigns halted outside the ring and signaled for his Bloodline cohorts, Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso, to join him in a bid to assault Rhodes.
Yet, Rhodes, anticipating Reigns’ treachery, had prepared for such a scenario, as Jey Uso and Cody’s WrestleMania partner, Seth Rollins, rushed to the ring to even the odds and thwart the Bloodline’s assault.
Many fans didn’t really like this segment at all and one took to Twitter and tagged Brian Gewirtz, stating that the segment was a letdown and that WrestleMania 40 would tank at this rate. Gewirtz had a fitting reply to the fan and shut him down.
”I’d sooner take wrestling advice from one of your many pornbot followers. They know as much about the business as you, and unlike you they actually work for a living.”
We will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to book Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns’ storyline in the coming weeks, as fans are certainly invested in it no matter what.
