Originally, Kenny Omega was slated to partner with Chris Jericho in their pursuit of the AEW World Tag Team Championships. However, Omega’s participation in the competition was derailed due to diverticulitis. Now, it seems that Tony Khan is hopeful about Omega’s recovery and eventual return to action following his illness.
Kenny Omega faced a life-threatening situation with a 50% chance of death due to a severe illness. Reports indicated that his crucial recovery surgery had been postponed, leading to an indefinite hiatus from his professional commitments.
While speaking with Comic Book, AEW President Tony Khan provided an update on Kenny Omega’s status. Khan expressed caution about putting pressure on Omega’s recovery, noting that Omega was in a rough state due to his illness. He refrained from setting a specific timetable for Omega’s return, emphasizing the importance of allowing him to heal at his own pace.
“I don’t want to put pressure on it,” Khan stated. “He was really in a bad way. I don’t want to put a timetable or try to rush him back, but I’m optimistic we’ll see Kenny Omega again.”
However, Khan conveyed optimism about Omega’s eventual comeback, suggesting that fans have something exciting to anticipate. He predicted an enthusiastic reaction from fans when Omega does make his return to AEW.
“Certainly, it’s something for all the fans to look forward to. I think everybody’s just going to go crazy when Kenny does come back, which I think we’re all very optimistic about.”
Kenny Omega will likely return to AEW television soon, so it remains to be seen how Omega will be booked upon his return, as AEW is certainly going through a lot of changes at the moment.
