The tensions between the two competitors scheduled to collide against each other for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns took an interesting turn to close tonight’s edition of SmackDown.
The Tribal Chief and The American Nightmare were scheduled for a huge one-on-one confrontation, with both choosing to appear alone without any of their allies, as Paul Heyman had devised on Monday Night RAW.
Both men stood across each other and began to reflect on their ongoing rivalry. Reigns began by questioning the alliance of Cody with his little brother, Seth Rollins in an attempt to cause a rift between them while reminiscing on his own days of dominance with Rollins in The Shield.
However, Cody fired right back reminding Roman that the first time to defeat The Shield was a team had a member with the last name, Rhodes. He then flipped the table by questioning The Tribal Chief if he could trust his own ally, The Final Boss, The Rock, and who actually led The Bloodline.
Roman Reigns followed up by dismissing his claims and labeling Cody as a perfect Number 2, while The American Nightmare showed him respect as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time and even offered a handshake. But Reigns chose to decline walked out of the ring and that moment, snapped his finger to signal Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso to head to the ring.
However, Cody outsmarted The Bloodline as his own allies, Seth Rollins and former Bloodline member Jey Uso appeared the same way through the crowd as the show went off the air with The Bloodline shocked to see the plan foil.
