WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin came out of in-ring retirement for an unexpected match at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens but hasn’t competed ever since. Fans still want him to appear at WrestleMania 40 somehow and even Eric Bischoff admitted he would be surprised if Austin doesn’t appear at the event.
It’s WrestleMania 40 season, and there’s a nostalgic vibe in the air thanks to the return of The Rock. Set to compete in his first WrestleMania match in 11 years, The Rock will team up with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night One of the two-part event.
The Rock’s comeback, combined with WrestleMania’s milestone 40th edition, has sparked speculation about the potential involvement of one of his greatest rivals. While speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff, in light of The Rock’s presence, wonders if another WWE Hall of Famer could also make an appearance at the event. Bischoff even admitted he would be surprised if The Texas Rattlesnake wouldn’t appear at the Show of Shows.
“I wouldn’t be surprised,” Bischoff said. “I would be surprised if we don’t see him, because of…just the level of interest and excitement and enthusiasm. And Steve is still out there, he’s still in business. We saw him do a commercial on Super Bowl Sunday. He’s still out there. He’s not crawled into a hole out there in Nevada, on his ranch. He’s still out there. So yeah, I expect to see him. Plus, it would be fun. If I was Steve Austin, I’d want to be a part of it.”
Steve Austin also didn’t completely shut the door on a potential return to WWE. Nevertheless, only time will tell whether The Bionic Redneck will appear at WrestleMania 40.
