In the latest AEW Dynamite, long-time friends turned bitter rivals Adam Copeland and Christian Cage faced off in a brutal ‘I Quit’ match. The intense bout concluded with Copeland emerging victorious. He has now shared his thoughts on the hard-fought victory.
From the start, the match between Christian Cage and Adam Copeland was a wild ride, spilling out of the ring and into the crowd. They even donned hockey jerseys at one point. The brawl took them backstage, with punches flying in various locations before returning to ringside.
Both men pulled out all the stops, bringing in tables, ladders, and chairs to intensify the battle. Despite Cage’s attempts to retreat, Copeland pursued relentlessly, ensuring the fight continued. It culminated on the stage, with the ring becoming a chaotic battleground involving both factions.
With timely backup from Christian’s former rivals, Daddy Magic and Daniel Garcia, Copeland gained the upper hand, restraining Cage. With Cage handcuffed and defenseless, Copeland landed the decisive blow, forcing Cage to submit and claiming the TNT championship in a dramatic conclusion.
AEW took to Twitter and uploaded a video of Adam Copeland following his win, as he cut a promo. Adam Copeland noted that he finally ended his chapter with Christian Cage and will be defending his TNT Championship against any willing opponent, as he announced the return of The Cope Open in London, Ontario at AEW Collision this week. He added that he would put his title on the line.
”To walk away with the TNT Championship finally, I know I had it before for about 30 seconds. For me, this is the first time I won a championship since 2011, man that’s a long drought. Tonight, it felt like that chapter’s closed, the 40-year book, it’s closed. It’s time to move on, it’s time for me to face some different faces. It’s time for me to defend this TNT Championship. I wanna be the type of champion who, if you think you deserve a shot, step up. I’m sore, I’m a bloody mess, but I got the TNT Championship. So tell you what, Collision, London, Cope Open’s back. So anybody who wants to step up, feel free, there’s more at stake too. There’s this TNT Championship, I don’t plan on losing anytime soon.”
We will have to wait and see how Adam Copeland will fare in his first TNT Championship defend next week on the March 30th edition of AEW Collision, as fans are certainly happy to see him become a champion again.
