Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams’ previously solid friendship in NXT took a dark turn at Vengeance Day when Hayes betrayed Williams. The fallout from this betrayal caused chaos on NXT, with Hayes further outsmarting Williams on a recent episode of the show. Additionally, the identity of the individual who impersonated Hayes has now been disclosed.
Following an altercation between Trick Williams and members of the Meta-four faction last week, which notably included a kiss between Lash Legend and Williams, he was slated to face Meta-four’s Noam Dar this week on NXT. This marked Williams’ first match since NXT Vengeance Day.
After securing victory, Trick promptly challenged Carmelo Hayes, only to be ambushed by Melo’s henchmen, including Carmelo in disguise. The sneak attack left Williams unconscious, concluding the show.
According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, it was reported that the identity of the hooded figure who disguised himself as Hayes is head NXT referee Darryl Sharma aka Adrian Butler. It was noted that Darryl Sharma wore the same exact shoe as the hooded figure.
”The figure appeared on the stage, pretending to be Carmelo Hayes, allowing Carmelo to attack Trick Williams. Fightful Select has learned that head NXT referee Darryl Sharma aka Adrian Butler played the role. You can see the shoes in the picture Darryl Sharma posted today, which were the same as those that the masked man wore last night. Completely separate of that, NXT sources also confirmed it was him.”
Carmelo Hayes also broke his silence on the matter. We will have to wait and how WWE will continue to book Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams’ feud in the coming weeks, as we approach the NXT Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event.
