Cody Rhodes emerged as a prominent figure in WWE, showcasing his heroic persona, particularly evident in his recent fiery confrontation with The Rock on RAW. In a verbal onslaught that defied the usual decorum of WWE, Rhodes unleashed a torrent of expletives, catching many fans off guard.

During the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, The American Nightmare seized the moment to address The Rock’s recent tirade, notably targeting his family during The Rock’s much-hyped ‘Rock Concert’ segment on SmackDown.

Acknowledging Roman Reigns’ championship dominance, Rhodes shifted his focus to The Rock, challenging his portrayal as a villain. He questioned The Rock’s influence within the TKO Board and made reference to the ‘We Want Cody’ movement. Rhodes then addressed The Rock’s remarks about his mother, expressing admiration for The Great One’s mother while highlighting his own mother’s resilience.

Rhodes didn’t hold back, labeling the veteran “an a******” and using more explicit language, a departure from the usual WWE script. Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer shed light on the situation, revealing that while everyone received a memo about the swearing rule, Rhodes seemed to have been given leeway due to the significance of his rivalry with The Rock.

Meltzer’s insights were corroborated by various sources, indicating that Rhodes was granted special permission to maintain his heroic image, a privilege not extended to others. The concern was ensuring Rhodes didn’t appear weaker compared to The Rock, especially given the latter’s strong performance in Memphis.

“The concern was there. There was a memo. Everyone got it. But they gave Cody… they knew that he had to come back (against Rock). But there was absolutely a memo. I got that from several different guys, and there’s been other reporters who have too, so that’s not nothing. And no-one else is allowed to do that, but he (Cody) was given the opportunity to do it because basically they wanted him to stay babyface essentially. And if he came off badly on this promo and Rock came off so great in Memphis, it’s like, that’s not what they want.”

The Rock, responding to a fan’s claim that Rhodes ‘cooked’ him with his promo, hinted at an impending retort, signaling a potential escalation in their ongoing feud.
