Cody Rhodes is marching towards WrestleMania 40 to claim his redemption and finish his story by winning his first WWE World championship. Interestingly, he is on the same path as once walked by The Greatest of all time, John Cena, over ten years ago.

As many would remember, John Cena lost one of his biggest matches at WrestleMania 28 against his Samoan rival, The Rock. Following a year of his life being in a tailspin, Cena won the Royal Rumble match on January 27, 2013, and earned another shot at The Great One at WrestleMania 29 which took place on April 7, 2013, and defeated him to win the WWE championship.

The impeccable storyline garnered maximum traction and now over a decade later, Cody Rhodes finds himself in almost the same situation.

The American Nightmare lost his highly anticipated title bout to the dominant Samoan champion, Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. Similar to Cena, Rhodes worked his way up and won the 2024 Royal Rumble match, also on January 27, to earn another opportunity at Reigns and his Undisputed WWE Universal Title.

Therefore, Cody Rhodes has the chance to accomplish what John Cena did, exactly 11 years to the date, on April 7 2024 at WrestleMania Night 2, should he be able to defeat Roman Reigns who is backed by his Bloodline and the man who has vowed to Cody’s life living hell as they approach WrestleMania 40, The Rock.
