Tony Khan’s AEW has ushered into a new era with an influx of new superstars and current members of the roster looking to make a mark with a huge opportunity on the horizon.
As we know, The Icon Sting and his ally Darby Allin successfully defended their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution last week, with the bout being Sting’s retirement showdown.
With Sting retiring as champion, Tony Khan announced on the post-event media scrum that the tag team titles were now vacant and a tournament would be held to crown the brand-new champions.
AEW officially took to their X to release the brackets of the upcoming tournament. The first side of the bracket will see Young Bucks vs Private Party, Best Friends colliding against The Don Callis family, and The Undisputed Kingdom taking on a team determined through a Wild Card.
On the other bracket, former champions Ricky Starks and Big Bill would square off against Top Flight, Infantry vs The House of Black, and FTR battling the second team from the Wild Card zone.
The first match from the tournament is set to go down on this week’s edition of AEW Collison, with House of Black members Buddy Matthews and Brody King battling Infantry teammates Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo.
