Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. have been intertwined in a longstanding feud that gained steam last year and it came to a head at NJPW’s New Beginning in Osaka. Danielson threw out a huge challenge for a trilogy match last month and Sabre Jr. has now accepted the challenge but with a twist.
In the NJPW x AEW Forbidden Door event in 2023, Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. faced off in a remarkable technical showdown, with Danielson emerging victorious.
At NJPW’s New Beginning in Osaka event, the two engaged in another captivating bout. This time, Zack Sabre Jr. managed to counter Danielson’s Busaiku knee and secure a pinfall victory, evening their current standing in singles competition to 1-1.
In an effort to settle things once and for all, Bryan Danielson has issued a challenge to ZSJ for a two-out-of-three falls bout on neutral ground. While speaking with NJPW1972.com, Zack Sabre Jr. accepted the challenge and wanted the match to take place in a place that is not AEW or NJPW.
”Obviously, wrestling Bryan (Danielson) the first time changed my whole career, and I’d come to terms that we’d never wrestle again. To have those matches back-to-back essentially meant so much to me because he’s the only one in the world I can wrestle that kind of a match with. It’s bittersweet because if (Osaka) was the last time we wrestled, it could potentially be the end of that style. I hope one day somebody will be as passionate about that style as me, but for now…”
”Maybe international waters (laughs). But I’d love to do it (2-out-of-3 Falls rubber match) around the world. Somewhere that’s not a NJPW or AEW ring. A match like this can go to every continent. I’m not sure how big wrestling is in Antarctica, but still.”
We will have to wait and see whether Zack Sabre Jr. will end up defeating Bryan Danielson in their inevitable trilogy bout, as fans would love to see that happen for good reason.
