Mercedes Mone kicked off and wrapped up the electrifying AEW Dynamite: Big Business on March 13, 2024, marking her highly anticipated debut in All Elite Wrestling.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Mone expressed her excitement about opening the event, revealing that she had been brimming with energy throughout the day.
“F— yeah, I needed to open the show,” Moné declared. “All day, I was so full of energy. Ten minutes before the show, I was in gorilla [backstage]. I could feel the energy in the building. When my music hit, I felt the energy, and I knew I was home.”
Reflecting on her debut speech, Mone disclosed that she had been contemplating her words for over a year, with even deeper consideration after signing with AEW. She opted to speak from the heart, a decision that resonated with the crowd and made the moment truly special for her.
“Everything started in Boston,” she explained. “I wouldn’t be ‘The CEO’ if it wasn’t for my time here.” Mone highlighted her connection to wrestling in North Andover, reminiscing about discovering wrestling schools at a young age. She recalled her journey with Chaotic Wrestling, a pivotal experience that fueled her dreams and shaped her career.
“That’s why I mentioned wrestling in North Andover,” she continued. “I remember looking up and reading about so many wrestling schools. I learned about Chaotic Wrestling when I was 12. When I was 16, I emailed them–but I was too young. When I was 18, I signed up for a fantasy camp. I was the only woman there. I won it, got to train at Chaotic for free, and they created a championship for me so women could come and wrestle me. I was only 18. That place created so much magic for me. It was a place for me to dream and become who I am.”
Mone’s heartfelt reflections underscored the significance of her journey and the pivotal role that Boston and Chaotic Wrestling played in her development as a wrestler, leaving an indelible mark on her path to becoming “The CEO” in AEW.
