When his brother, Jeff Hardy, joined AEW, there was an initial expectation that their contracts would run concurrently. It was reported that Matt Hardy’s contract was going to expire in March this year, something that Matt Hardy would also confirm recently. Afterwards, rumors spread that Hardy was going to hang up his pro wrestling boots.

A fan took to Twitter and directly asked Matt Hardy if the rumors of him retiring were true, and he told Hardy to reconsider. Matt Hardy made it clear that he is not retiring from pro wrestling anytime soon.

At 49 years old, Matt Hardy’s wrestling activity has notably decreased in 2024 compared to the previous year. In 2023, he was involved in over 40 matches, showcasing his versatility both within and outside of AEW. However, this year, he has only been involved in one match, marking a significant contrast in his level of activity.
