Kevin Kelly, recognized for his significant contributions to wrestling promotions such as WWE, Ring of Honor, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, recently found himself embroiled in controversy. He was reportedly fired for a rant earlier this month and now Tony Khan has addressed Kelly’s status within AEW.
Speculation arose regarding Kevin Kelly’s absence following his return to AEW, a move that garnered mixed reactions from fans. Tensions escalated when Kelly publicly criticized Ian Riccaboni ahead of the AEW Revolution pay-per-view, accusing him of defamation and emphasizing his importance within the company.
Kelly’s name was taken off the AEW roster page this week, hinting at his apparent exit from the promotion. In addition to that, Kevin Kelly was notably absent from the latest AEW Collision taping.
As previously reported, Kevin Kelly was fired from AEW recently over his social media rant. Ahead of Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite: Big Business, Tony Khan sat down with TVInsider for an interview. When questioned about Kevin Kelly’s status with the promotion, Khan simply didn’t give a proper answer.
”I prefer not to comment on that, but I appreciate you asking.”
Kelly encountered a challenging start as the host of Collision, showing a lack of familiarity with the product, including the names of signature moves, and the history of wrestlers and ongoing feuds. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see if Khan will properly address his firing one day.
