After making a triumphant return to AEW in August of last year, Mike Santana was conspicuously absent from AEW television for an extended period until his departure from the company earlier this month. Interestingly enough, Santana seemingly threw shade at AEW for not realizing his potential.
If you weren’t aware, Santana and his former tag team partner Ortiz engaged in a memorable and deeply personal feud on AEW Rampage last year, showcasing their exceptional promo skills. Their No Disqualification match on the October 25th edition of AEW Rampage ended with Santana emerging victorious. However, despite this significant win, Santana was noticeably absent from AEW television since that time.
Santana then expressed his frustration over lack of TV time and he eventually left the company this month. Santana took to Twitter and uploaded a post, which seemingly threw shade at AEW for not realizing his potential.
“If you stay in the same environment that doesn’t recognize your value, you will shrink into the box they put you in.”
Mike Santana then responded to a fan who stated that he was meant to be in the tag team division. Santana noted even that yielded no results.
“Even that box yielded no results. If you haven’t paid attention to the last 5 years…”
The real reason for his AEW exit has been revealed. The future for Mike Santana remains uncertain, and fans are eager to see what comes next for him. Many believe that AEW might not have fully utilized his abilities during his time with the company.
