Shelton Benjamin, an experienced veteran in professional wrestling, has frequently left fans with the feeling that his full potential was not realized in his previous wrestling endeavors. Despite being released from WWE last year, Benjamin has now set the record straight regarding a potential AEW debut.
As mentioned earlier, discussions have been ongoing between Shelton Benjamin and AEW, exploring the possibility of his appearances for the company. While specific details regarding a potential contract or a full-time deal remain unconfirmed, these discussions began approximately a month ago.
In a recent interview posted on the Monopoly Events YouTube channel, Jamal Niaz spoke to Shelton Benjamin. In the interview, Benjamin expressed his desire to wrestle Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada. Regarding a potential appearance in AEW, Benjamin mentioned that the doors are open.
”Honestly, (Kazuchika) Okada, while I’ve worked alongside him in New Japan, we never actually had a match, so I would love to work with Okada. Obviously, I would love to work with Will Ospreay because I think that guy’s phenomenal. I’ve been watching him for years, and, you know, people call me athletic, but I mean, he does stuff that I couldn’t even — it would put me in traction to even try some of the moves he does, but I would love to work with him.”
”I think it could be a lot of fun. So, those names are at the top of my list, but obviously, I enjoy what I do, I love what I do, and I can pretty much mesh with anybody. So, it’s just a matter of what they think but, as far as AEW goes, that door’s open — my door is open. I haven’t eliminated any possibilities as of yet.”
An AEW star also expressed strong opposition to Benjamin arriving in AEW. Shelton Benjamin’s first match following his WWE release was also revealed. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether he will make his debut in AEW somewhere down the line.
