For months, rumours of WWE introducing a new set of the Tag Team Championships or splitting the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships have been making rounds on the internet. Right before the 3/11 episode of Raw, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis announced they had an announcement to make together.
This was followed by the world speculating that the announcement would be for the Tag Team Championships. During the 3/11 episode of Raw, it turned out that the speculations were right. The announcement from Pearce and Aldis involved the Tag Team titles.
However, there was nothing mentioned about splitting the titles or introducing new ones. Rather, the general managers announced a six-pack tag team ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 40.
Finn Balor and Damian Priest will defend their titles against five other teams in a ladder match. Over the next few weeks on Raw and Smackdown, the team competing in the match will be determined, seemingly three from Raw and two from Smackdown.
While the WWE Universe seemingly loved the idea, the champions weren’t a huge fan of it. With WrestleMania on the horizon, it would be interesting to see how things turn out for the tag team champions.
